This six-day professional development course is designed for teachers, educators and school staff who wish to strengthen their knowledge and practical skills in supporting learners with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other special educational needs. Participants will explore the characteristics of ASD, structured teaching approaches, visual supports and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), sensory regulation strategies, and the creation of sensory-friendly learning environments. The programme also focuses on behaviour management, emotional regulation, and differentiated and individualised instruction to ensure meaningful participation and learning for all students. Through interactive workshops, case studies, practical classroom or adult community examples and collaborative activities, participants will gain evidence-based strategies that can be immediately applied in their own educational settings. Whenever possible, the course includes opportunities to observe inclusive educational practices and teaching methods in real classroom environments, allowing participants to connect theory with practice and develop effective approaches for supporting diverse learners.
