Basics

What is Erasmus+ KA1?

Erasmus+ KA1 (Key Action 1) is a European Union programme designed to fund professional development for educators. It enables schools to send teachers on learning activities abroad — courses, training, job shadowing — with full EU financial support.

The grant covers travel costs, accommodation, subsistence and course fees. Schools do not need their own funds — the entire stay is funded by the grant.

🇪🇺
EU-funded, not school-funded

Grant covers 100% of costs with no co-financing from the school.

📋
School applies, teacher travels

The school applies as an institution — the teacher simply attends the course.

🌍
27+ EU countries

The programme operates in all EU countries and associated states.

📜
Recognised EU certificate

Europass Mobility is recognised in all EU member states.

Funding

How much does Erasmus+ KA1 cover?

✈️
€180 – €1,500
Travel allowance

Based on the distance between the school's country and the course destination. Slovakia → Sardinia ~ €275.

🏨
€79 – €180 / day
Individual support

Covers accommodation and daily expenses. For Slovakia: €106/day (5 days = €530).

📚
€450 – €1,150
Course fee

Direct payment to the course provider. Glory Lab courses range from €590 – €890.

💡
Example: Slovak teacher in Sardinia

Glory Lab course (5 days, €750) + travel Bratislava–Cagliari (€275) + accommodation & subsistence (5 × €106 = €530) = total ~€1,555 covered by the grant. School's own cost: €0.

KA121 vs KA122

Which type of application does your school need?

KA121Recommended
Accredited mobility
  • School holds a valid Erasmus+ accreditation
  • Applied for annually in March
  • Higher grant, simpler administration
  • Long-term mobility planning
  • Best for regular annual training
Best for: Schools with accreditation planning to send teachers every year.
KA122For first-timers
Short-term project
  • School has no Erasmus+ accreditation
  • One-off project with a specific objective
  • Flexible number of mobilities
  • Ideal for a first Erasmus+ experience
  • Grant may be lower, administration heavier
Best for: Schools without accreditation trying Erasmus+ for the first time.
Step by step

How to apply?

1
Choose a course and dates

Browse our course catalogue and choose a suitable date and destination. Send us a query — we'll advise you free of charge.

💡 Glory Lab tip: Reserve your spot before applying — we confirm even without a grant.
2
Apply to your national agency

The school submits a KA121 or KA122 application to the national agency in their country. The deadline is usually in March.

💡 Glory Lab tip: We provide our accreditation number E10025961 for direct use in your application.
3
Wait for approval

The national agency announces results within 2–4 months. While waiting, you can attend the course and use the grant retroactively.

💡 Most schools working with an accredited provider receive the grant.
4
Attend the course

The teacher completes the 5-day course at a European destination. We handle everything — programme, certificates, Europass.

💡 Accommodation and local logistics are on us. You focus on learning.
5
Submit the final report

The school submits a short final report to the national agency. We provide all supporting documents including Europass Mobility.

💡 Certificate of Attendance + Europass Mobility = complete documentation for reporting.
6
Plan the next year

Most schools repeat the process every year after their first successful mobility. With KA121 accreditation the whole process becomes much simpler.

💡 One course becomes a tradition — and your Erasmus+ grant grows year after year.
